Here we go again. Do I ever learn my lesson with Symantec and Norton Internet Security.
This time it was NIS2006. I've had very few problems with NIS2004, and I installed NIS2006 a few weeks ago. No problem, it's been working very well.
Except 2 days ago, I couldn't access my personal email, and my work email, both through Outlook, and I couldn't view my personal email through webmail. So I thought my email supplier's server must be down. Staring at my PC, I suddenly had the urge to turn off the Norton Firewall, switch on the Microsoft Firewall and see what happens.
Yes you guessed it, Outlook and Webmail are both working.
Gmail was always working both Webmail and POP download.
It seems to be something to do with my Privacy Control on personal information and passwords, the alert box wasn't showing up. Take the firewall down and back up and it works.
And now it's stopped working again.
I'll have to sleep on it.
Damn Symantec and Norton, yet again.
Yeh Yeh, I know, there are other firewalls and anti-virus things out there, some of it free, but Norton was very good at recovering my PC when there was a virus. And it wasn't Norton running when I got the virus but another anti-Virus software.
